Happiness is contagious.
That's not some feel-good hogwash statement that doesn't have any real substance behind it. After all, what do you do when a stranger smiles at you on the street? You smile back, don't you? For that brief moment, you're happy!
So, just imagine how great you'd feel if you could train your brain to give you that feel-good moment all the time!
It's not as hard as you might think. In fact, many experts tout the benefits of something called "Smile Therapy". All you have to do is get out of bed in the morning and form the biggest, most sincere grin that you can. After a few seconds, relax, and then smile again. Research proves that doing this a few times each day is a great way to "trick" you brain into thinking more positively. After all, if everything was bad, you wouldn't be smiling, right?!
You can take this "brain trickery" a lot further though. It's actually a proven fact that positive thinking can help relieve anxiety. That's because anxiety sufferers usually feel like their lives have spun out of control. So, by making positive thoughts the dominant "voice" in your head, you can turn the tables on all of that negativity.
Sounds like a lot of work, right?
It doesn't have to be!
All you have to do is incorporate a few simple changes into your life. For example, focus on saying "I can", instead of "I can't". Look for solutions, instead of dwelling on problems. For example, if you're always late to work, set your alarm clock a little bit earlier. It's that easy! As soon as you feel like you have control over things, you'll feel better.
Want to make sure you're always up for some positive thinking?
Start by taking care of yourself. Being tired, hungry, or thirsty always makes things seem worse than they really are. Aside from your physical needs, give yourself one "perk" every day. For example, take a soothing bubble bath, make time for your favorite TV show no matter what, or treat yourself to your favorite dessert. These may all seem like little things, but they're exactly what you need to stay positive!
One thing you must do is surround yourself with positive people! After all, not only is happiness contagious but so is negativity! The last thing you want is that one down-in-the-dumps friend dragging you down too.

It is good to feel happy most of the time even if not always, so if positive thinking can improve ones happiness, it is nice to adopt that attitude.
