You Don't Have to Sacrifice Your Morals to Be Wealthy

If you find yourself thinking a lot about wealth and material possessions, you're definitely not alone. Men and women have craved wealth since the beginning of time. Sure, in those days, "wealth" was measured by how much meat they had to eat or the number of furs they had to keep themselves warm. But even back then, people felt more successful when they had more stuff.

While the possessions themselves may have changed since the cave dweller days, the idea hasn't. People still view wealth as being associated with success and a feeling that we aren't nearly as burdened by all of our responsibilities.

Unfortunately, though, some people are willing to do just about anything to accumulate more wealth. They don't care if they have to break the law, lie, or commit some other kind of awful wrongdoing. Even worse, some people feel forced to act this way in order to "keep up" with the unscrupulous crowd.

So, how do you accumulate wealth without shedding your moral code?

- Question the motives of others.

The more wealth you have, the more people you'll see come out of the woodwork. Before you let them play a bigger role in your life, ask yourself if they truly share your moral code. Like George Washington once said, "Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company."

- Hold yourself accountable.

If you stray from your moral code, it's no one's fault but your own. You're responsible for your own actions. Never forget that.

- Remember what constitutes "true" wealth.

In order to be truly wealthy, you must have amassed everything honestly. Without morality and good conscience, your wealth isn't worth all that much. You may have to reign in your temptations from time to time, but that's better than sacrificing your morals.

- Remember that life isn't always pleasurable.

Unfortunately, life comes with all kinds of unavoidable "stuff". However, the pain you feel today will make you more grateful for the peace and success you get to experience later on. It'll also make you realize what's really valuable in life - and that's where the true wealth resides.

- Use your wealth for the right reasons.

Don't be like the politicians who say they're working for the "little guy", only to be padding their own pockets behind the scenes. Make sure that your moral code dictates how you approach every situation. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "Honor is better than honors."

Final point - we're all drawn to wealth, but wealth is drawn to morals and values. Remember that, and you'll be a great person who attracts great things.

How Can You Bounce Back to Make 2017 a Great Year?

A couple of weeks ago, Felix posted this comment to a post here (How Can You Tap into What You Really Want to Do?):

"Tony,

I have always enjoyed reading your material and its a joy to get it regularly.

I just loss a eighteen year old grandson yesterday due to an untimely death that involved drugs unfortunately.

How can I bounce back to make 2017 a great year? I am so depressed about this loss."

To which I replied:

"I'm glad to hear you enjoy reading my material and getting it regularly, however I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your grandson. I can only imagine what you're feeling. I'll answer your question here in a bit more detail in a couple of weeks, but let me give you the gist of my advice right now to get you started: 1. Take stock of what you still have and be grateful for it. 2. Decide what's next (what I wrote above applies here as well). 3. Get moving toward what's next. Forward motion toward a definite and meaningful end is, in my experience, the great cure-all. Again, I'll address this here in a bit more detail in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned and keep the faith Felix!"

Well, as I said I would, I want to take the time today to answer his question in a bit more detail.

There are three steps I suggest you take when you want to bounce back from an ending, a loss, or any other traumatic event:

  1. Take stock of what you still have and be grateful for it.
  2. Decide what's next.
  3. Get moving toward what's next.

Let's take a quick look at each of them...

1. Take stock of what you still have and be grateful for it.

After an ending, a loss, or any other traumatic event, there's a tendency to think that all is lost when, more often than not, nothing could be further from the truth.

How do you avoid falling into that trap?

Simple...

Sit down and write a list of all (the key word here is all) you have to be grateful for.

That'll immediately help you put things in their proper perspective.

See my article "What 9/11 and a 3-Year-Old Taught Me About Gratitude" for a great example of this. Click or tap the link below to read it.

2. Decide what's next.

After your grieving is over (or the worst of it is over anyway) and you've taken stock of what you still have, the best possible thing you can do to get on with your life is reevaluate your values list and your next level vision and refine/revise them as necessary.

Don't have a values list?

Then now would be a good time to create one. A real good time! See Chapter 1 of my Wallace D. Wattles Advanced Vision Guide for detailed, step-by-step instructions. If you don't already have a copy, click or tap the links below to get yours today.

Then now would be a real good time to create one of those as well! See Chapters 6-8 of my Wallace D. Wattles Quick Start Guide and Chapters 2-12 of my Wallace D. Wattles Advanced Vision Guide for detailed, step-by-step instructions. If you don't already have copies, click or tap the links below to get yours today.

3. Get moving toward what's next.

After your grieving (or the worst of it) is over, you've taken stock of what you still have, and you've reevaluated/refined/revised your values and your vision, get moving toward what's next.

That'll do more than you know...

Far more than what you know!

How Can You Tap into What You Really Want to Do?

How Can You Tap into What You Really Want to Do?

In a survey I conducted, a reader wrote:

"Tony:

How can I tap into what I really want to do with my life? I feel like my life is a hop scotch game, jumping from one square to the next but never staying focused on one thing for very long. Please help me.

Thanks!"

Great question, and one a whole lot of folks struggle with.

Some people know from a very early age exactly what they want to do with their lives, while others spend the better part of their lives trying to figure it out. I fell into the latter group for a good part of my life, and it sounds like that's where you are right now.

In Lesson 4 of his book The Personal Power Course ("Opportunity"), Wallace D. Wattles wrote:

"You know, from what you have learned in the preceding lessons, that you have within you the POWER WHICH CAN; and you know that if you lack in some special talent, you have the power to develop that talent; furthermore, you have been told how to develop it. All this you have, or should have, thoroughly grasped. You have been told also that Nature is a Living Intelligence, and that this intelligence is all-powerful within its domain; and perhaps you have not fully grasped this in all that it means to you. Every living thing has intelligence after its own kind, and according to its form; but there is an Unformed Intelligence in all, through all, and permeating all; and this Unformed Intelligence is moving always toward more life for all.

This Intelligence being the source of all things, knows the real truth concerning all things; and when you come in touch with It you will have what is called an intuitive perception of truth; you will discover things. Things will open before your mind. It will not be hard for you to think of new ways, and new things to do, as described in the foregoing. If you get into the mental attitude of FAITH and ACTION described in these lessons, you are not going to have to painfully cudgel at your brain to discover something to do; you will be led to it, or it will be brought to you. Do not suppose that it is very difficult to invent new things, or to discover new methods; the new ways are already known, and you only need to come in touch with Mind which knows them. All that is necessary is that with absolute FAITH, you should do all that you can do NOW, and keep moving toward more life. It does not in the least matter that you cannot see the big thing you are to do; it will be shown to you, in due time, for there is ONE who knows. Have faith, and MOVE ON."

Based on that and personal experience, my advice to you is this:

Create a vision that reflects what's truly important to you right now and what you really want next in your life (the key word here is next, not now and forever, just next) and begin moving toward it. Then, when you realize it, do it again and again and again. Somewhere along the line, it may be sooner or later, the "big thing" you are to do will be shown to you if you keep the faith that it will.

Remember:

"All that is necessary is that with absolute FAITH, you should do all that you can do NOW, and keep moving toward more life. It does not in the least matter that you cannot see the big thing you are to do; it will be shown to you, in due time, for there is ONE who knows. Have faith, and MOVE ON."
