What Justifies Inhumanity?

In a survey I conducted, a reader wrote:

"Hi Tony,

I am a positive person believing in human rights and decency of one person to another so I can't understand how <name of country deleted> can justify accepting the <name of political/military/religious group deleted> and their interpretation of the <name of religion deleted> law. Please tell me how/what justifies that inhumanity."

Nothing!

That being said, I have a couple of suggestions for you:

First, I suggest you change your social viewpoint to the one recommended by Wallace D. Wattles in Chapter 6 of his book The Science of Being Great ("The Social Point of View"), which, to quote Mr. Wattles here, is this:

"'All's right with the world. Nothing can possibly be wrong but my personal attitude, and I will make that right. I will see the facts of nature and all the events, circumstances, and conditions of society, politics, government, and industry from the highest viewpoint. It is all perfect, though incomplete. It is all the handiwork of God; behold, it is all very good.'"

Now, that may be a bit much for you to stomach right now, but, I can promise you, that point of view will get you a whole heck of a lot farther, a whole heck of a lot faster, and a whole heck of a lot happier than your current one will. To understand it more fully, I refer you to that chapter of The Science of Being Great (Chapter 6). I highly recommend you read it, then read it again, and again, and again until you get it. As I matter of fact, I highly recommend that you read the entire book, then read it again, and again, and again until you get it. Second, as I think I've said, or at least eluded to, here before, more often than not, people who ask me how about this/how about that, what about this/what about that, and/or why this/why that type of questions lack a clear sense of purpose in their lives and are sitting around concerning themselves with everything but the one thing they should be concerning themselves with, and that's moving themselves and, as a result, the entire world, foreword.

Therefore, I advise to create yourself a next-level vision that reflects what's truly important to you and what you really want next in your life and begin moving toward it.

Remember:

"'All's right with the world. Nothing can possibly be wrong but my personal attitude, and I will make that right. I will see the facts of nature and all the events, circumstances, and conditions of society, politics, government, and industry from the highest viewpoint. It is all perfect, though incomplete. Develop Gratitude and Start Over

There are a lot of things in this world that can make us feel loss, depression, and sadness. The ending of something important to us can certainly make us feel all these things.

Perhaps your marriage or job is ending, and now you're forced to move to a new location and give up the lifestyle that you've grown accustomed to for years. This kind of change can make you feel empty, lonely, and disconnected from everything that you thought was real in your life.

We get used to our normal daily routine because it becomes part of who we are. If this routine is ever disturbed or disrupted in any way, it causes us to feel lost in our lives without any sense of our identity. If this routine never comes back, we continue to struggle with our identity until we can establish a new one.

If you want to make this identity transition less painful and disturbing to your life, then you need to focus on having gratitude for the good things that are to come. Even though the change in your life seems dark and grim right now, there's always light at the end of the tunnel.

Gratitude can make you realize that every new situation means there's a new beginning. This is what allows you to grow as a person and become better than you once were. Surely, there must have been some bad things in your current life that you want to change or get away from. Gratitude allows you to see the positive things that are waiting for you soon.

Here are a few tips to assist you in converting a negative circumstance into a positive one in order to promote personal growth and wellness:

1. Take out a notebook and open to a clean page. Write the following on the page, "Due to my loss, I experience grief over it due to ____________." In the blank area, state the reasons for your sadness over the loss and the way it makes you feel. Describe how it affects your happiness.

2. Go to another clean piece of paper in the notebook. Write the following on the page, "This situation has brought all of these valuable things into my life, such as __________." In the blank area, state every positive thing that was brought to you as a result of the situation.

3. Go to a third sheet of paper in the notebook. Write the following on the page, "After the previous situation had been released from my life, it paved the way for ___________." State all the opportunities and benefits that came to you after your previous situation changed into something new. For instance, maybe you got out of an abusive relationship, and now you're starting a new life that's free of abuse and sadness. So, talk about the benefits of living without these worries.

Therefore, you can always find something good that comes from a new situation. Even if it seems like a loss upfront, there are benefits that come along with it. Maybe you won't notice these benefits right away, but if you partake in the gratitude exercises mentioned above, then you'll learn to see the benefits more clearly.

Grief and sadness are normal feelings in life. But if you can focus on the good things that are ahead because of your bad situation, then it won't seem so unpleasant and scary. Just keep practicing those exercises regularly to heal your mind and stop feeling helpless.
