The Best Ways to Increase Your Luck in Life

Some people call themselves lucky or unlucky. They think it's impossible to control destiny and that your personal qualities and talents are what determine your fortune in life. However, the law of cause and effect tells us a different theory.

What if luck was a choice? The dictionary states that luck is "good fortune that happens by chance." But if you believe in the law of cause and effect, then chance doesn't have much to do with luck. Your thoughts determine your actions (the cause), and your actions create a particular outcome (the effect). Nothing is random here!

Therefore, "luck" is dependent on your actions. If you're the type of person who's a doer rather than a wisher, then you'll likely have good fortune. Just remember to utilize the law of cause and effect to make yourself the luckiest man or woman alive. You must motivate yourself to think like a "lucky person", and then you will be a "lucky person". If you change your thought process into taking action toward the things you want in life, then you will achieve them.

Take a look at someone who appears to be a very lucky person, such as a very successful athlete or movie star. Ask yourself, "How come they had so many wonderful opportunities? Is it because they're naturally lucky?" Well, no, they're not naturally lucky. These are people who don't dwell over the misfortunes in their lives. They keep their expectations high and open to the possibility of having better things in life. Because they have this mindset, they recognize when new opportunities present themselves and then grab onto these opportunities immediately without hesitation.

A truly "lucky person" lives moment to moment instead of in the past. All the bad things that happened to you in the past should be erased from your mind. The same goes for all the bad things that might happen in the future. You don't know what's going to happen. You must live in the now by enjoying the good things that you have in front of you presently. It'll be so much easier to think clearly and recognize what you need to do day by day.

A truly "lucky person" doesn't hesitate for anything. Thoughts of self-doubt and negative projecting are what hold back so many people from achieving success. But if you work hard and smart in the present and grab onto opportunities when they come, you'll find life to be more interesting. So, stop moaning, groaning, and complaining about what you don't have and start focusing on what you do have. Then you can take your life in any direction that you want.

Keep practicing these principles each day, and good fortune will come to you quickly. Then you'll be overwhelmed with new opportunities that'll make your life so much better.

Here's something for you to ponder today. It comes from Making the Man Who Can by Wallace D. Wattles, who's best known for his classic masterpiece The Science of Getting Rich:

"Every man has the inherent power to direct his own abilities and energies; and every man is conscious of having this power. It is because he has it that he is capable of growth and progress. To make a successful man, it is necessary to make one who knows what things result in success, and who will direct his energies to do those things; and the first essential to this is that he should assume the attitude of self-direction.

Every man is either self-directing or directed by the suggestions which come from his environment. The man who can is always a self-directing man; the man who is directed by suggestion is the man who cannot.

The man who is directed by suggestion has a "horoscope"; his destiny is decided by heredity and environment; the self-directing man does not allow his thoughts to be dictated by heredity, environment or the stars; he thinks what he wants to think, and if his horoscope does not suit him he makes a better one.

Business success depends upon business policy; business policy can only be formulated by thought; therefore, whether a man succeeds or fails depends upon the way he thinks.

The directed man only thinks the thoughts which are suggested by his environment; and so he can only do what those around him think he can do.

The self-directing man thinks what he wants to think, and can therefore do what he wants to do.

To become the man who can, the first step is to take the attitude of self-direction."

Note: Making the Man Who Can by Wallace D. Wattles is sometimes referred to as the "missing chapters" of his book The Science of Getting Rich. Well, there's nothing really missing about them. In fact, Making the Man Who Can was first published a year before The Science of Getting Rich was. However, it does fill in the missing pieces of The Science of Getting Rich rather nicely.
